Our Effective Breastfeeding Policy

1. A breastfeeding policy has been established in our institution to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding practices.
    • The International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and the relevant resolutions of the World Health Assembly are fully implemented.
    • Our written infant feeding policy is regularly shared with staff and families.
    • A Breastfeeding Support Committee has been established to ensure continuous data monitoring within our institution.
2. Our staff receive training to gain the knowledge, competence, and skills necessary to support mothers in breastfeeding.
3. All pregnant women and their families are informed about the importance and management of breastfeeding.
4. After births in our institution, skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby is ensured within the first half hour, and breastfeeding is initiated and supported to continue uninterrupted.
5. Mothers are supported in initiating and maintaining breastfeeding, managing common difficulties, and ensuring milk supply when babies are separated.
6. Unless medically necessary, newborns are not given any food or liquid other than breast milk. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding with complementary foods up to 2 years and beyond.
7. Mothers and babies are kept together in the same room 24 hours a day.
8. Mothers are informed and supported to recognize hunger cues and to breastfeed on demand.
9. Counseling is provided to mothers regarding the use and risks of bottles and pacifiers.
10 At discharge, families are informed about units and other health institutions that provide ongoing breastfeeding support and education.
